New Fantasyland Photo Update with Mermaid Castle Details

With the first phased openings of New Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World fast approaching, work is chugging along behind the refurbishment walls. Circusland is working on installing planters, trees, and other final touches. One of the tent, seem poking out from behind below, is almost completely re skinned while the other is in final preparations.

Meanwhile, the adjacent Little Mermaid attraction building reached a major milestone by finally adding its last tower cap. There’s plenty of beautiful detail in the castle itself, so we zoomed in so you can see it.

Be sure to click the images to explore the full size photos! Also, since we took these photos during the One More Disney Day leap-year event, we’ll include one other little Fantasyland tid-bit, our 6 a.m. ride all alone on the Mad Tea Party teacups.

Sorta gotta wonder what’s the point of opening half of Dumbo, Barnstormer, restrooms and the train station– with everything else shut off by red walls. Why not wait another month or two and have more stuff ready?  Is it *that* important to have part of Dumbo up and running?

Well, it does give them some extra capacity, plus the train can finally unload at the station again. It’s really that some is better than none.

I think it is a good idea to open 1 of the dumbo rides. While they move the old one to its new location the new one will be operational.  This way the ride will not have to close completely and you wil have less upset kids ( and parents)
