Major Changes Coming to Studio Tram Tour at Disney Hollywood Studios in 2013

Disney filed permits today to get the ball rolling on work to revamped the much maligned Studio Tram Tour at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World. The attraction has sagged in attendance recently as it has been systematically reduced over the years from a half-day multi-part attraction to a mere shell of its former offerings that few guests are interested in seeing anymore.

The paperwork notes that these initial projects that focus on the queue and tram loading areas should be complete by the middle of 2013. There are additional permits that focus of the re-purposing and revamping of the Studios security offices to reconfigure the general area for future expansion possibilities as well.

At this point, I really wish they would just let this attraction die already. The park is no longer a functioning studio, and they already cleared all of the old houses out to make room for Lights, Motors, Action. Catastrophe Canyon is neat but has been the same since 1989. Just raze the whole damn thing and put in an attraction that people want, and re-theme the area to integrate it into the Pixar theme of that side of the park. (While I’m on that topic, please move Pizza Planet over there, seeing as it really belongs there.)

Yeah, it should die. Will it? I don’t know, looking at Epcot’s track record, we might be stuck with it for another ten years.
