Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park and Entertainment Area Refurbishments
Magic Kingdom
- Jan. 2 – March 19, 2013: Splash Mountain will be closed for refurbishment. .
- Jan. 7 – Feb. 18, 2013: Mad Tea Party will be closed for refurbishment.
- January – Early Summer 2013: Main Street Bakery closed for conversion to Starbucks location.
- Feb. 1 – Feb. 7, 2013: Liberty Square Riverboat will be closed for refurbishment.
Epcot
- Now – Fall 2012: Test Track closed for refurbishment. (Grand Opening December 6th.)
- Now – Nov. 15, 2012: Souvenirs de France (shop) will be closed for refurbishment.
- Now – December 9, 2012: Bistro de Paris is closed, reopening December 10th.
- Oct. 21 – Mid-February 2013: Epcot Character Spot will be closed for refurbishment. A temporary Character Spot location near the current location will be open for Guests to greet Mickey, Minnie & Pluto. The temporary location is between the restrooms and Club Cool.
- March – Midsummer 2012: Fountainview Cafe closed for conversion to Starbucks location.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Now – Nov. 16, 2012: Studio Backlot Tour will be closed for refurbishment.
- Now – Nov. 16, 2012: American Film Institute Showcase will be closed for refurbishment.
- Now – Nov. 16, 2012: AFI Showcase Shop will be closed.
- Nov. 14, 2012: Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show closed for refurbishment.
- Dec. 6, 2012: Legend of Jack Sparrow grand opens.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
- Nothing Currently Scheduled.
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park
- Jan. 6, 2013 – May 16, 2013: Blizzard Beach Water Park will be closed for annual refurbishment.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park
- Oct.28, 2012 – Jan. 5, 2013: Typhoon Lagoon Water Park will be closed for annual refurbishment.
Downtown Disney Area
- Dec. 6, 2012: Splitsville grand opens.
Golf Courses
- Oct. 29 – November 11, 2012: Palm, Magnolia and Oak Trail Golf Course will be closed due to PGA Tour Children’s Miracle Network Golf Classic.
- Nov.12 – 18, 2012: Osprey Ridge Golf Course will be closed.
- Nov. 26 – Dec. 2, 2012: Magnolia Golf Course will be closed.
- Dec. 3 – 9, 2012: Palm Golf Course will be closed.
- Dec. 10 – 14, 2012: Oak Trail Gold Course will be closed.

Disney’s BoardWalk Resort
- Dec. 19 – 31, 2012: Disney Vacation Club signage repainting and replacement will occur.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort
- Now – Nov. 16, 2012: Aruba village building exterior will be repaired and repainted.
- Oct. 24 – Nov. 28, 2012: Guest room door lock replacement
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Oct. 30 – Nov. 28, 2012: Crosswalk at World Drive will undergo enhancement.
- Dec. 24 – May 16, 2013: Contemporary Tower and South Garden Wing will undergo Guest room soft goods replacement.
- Jan. 6, 2013 – Late Summer 2013: 14th floor Suites Refurbishment. This includes a hard and soft goods refurbishment and a renovation to the concierge lounge.
- Feb. 2, 2013 – Late Summer 2013: California Grill will be closed for refurbishment.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground
- Nov 14 – 27, 2012: Cabins will undergo door lock replacement.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Now – Early November: The Fitness Center will be closed for refurbishment. A temporary tent location specifically built to serve as a fitness center will be available for Guest use. The tent will be located in the Convention Center Parking lot. It will be open from 6:30am – 10:00pm daily. It will be air-conditioned with military-grade flooring and natural light. This will also be the main option for Guests at Disney’s Polynesian Resort.
- Now – Nov. 16, 2012: Monorail platform and stairway will undergo refurbishment.
- Now – Nov. 16, 2012: Porte cochere ceiling will undergo refurbishment.
- Now – Nov. 17, 2012: Sandy Cove Gifts & Sundries will be closed for refurbishment.
- Now – Dec. 17 2012: Courtyard Pool and Gasparilla Grill & Games will undergo refurbishment. The Beach pool and slide will remain open for Guest enjoyment. The Beach Pool Bar will offer quick-service food offerings and a selection of pre-packaged food will be available at Mizner’s Lounge.
- Now – Late December 2012: Courtyard Pool will be closed for refurbishment. The Beach Pool will remain open during this time.
- Now – Late December 2012: Courtyard Pool Bar will be closed for refurbishment.
- Now – Mid-2013: Construction is ongoing as part of planned changes for Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The spa has closed temporarily and will reopen in 2013. During this construction, the Fitness Center will remain open. Guests may visit The Spa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort for spa services.
- Oct. 20 – Dec. 3, 2012: Ivy Trellis Beauty and Barber Shop will be closed for refurbishment.
Disney’s Old Key West Resort
- Nov. 27 – Dec. 21, 2012: Signage/graphics repainting and replacement will occur.
Disney’s Polynesian Resort
- Now – June 14, 2013: Guest room soft goods replacement will occur.
- Nov. 19 – 20, 2012: The Great Ceremonial House lobby children’s area carpet will undergo carpet replacement.
- Nov. 19 – 20, 2012: The Great Ceremonial House 2nd floor carpet, near Trader Jack’s, will undergo carpet replacement.
Disney’s Pop Century Resort
- Dec. 27, 2012 – Jan. 25, 2013: Guest room door lock replacement
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
- Now – April 15, 2013: Lodge buildings window frame and shutters painting will occur.
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
- Oct. 18 – Nov. 13, 2012: Guest room door lock replacement
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa
- Now – Oct. 24, 2012: Lobby wood floor refinishing will occur.
- Now – Dec. 12, 2012: Rockwork painting at High Rock Spring Pool will occur. The pool will remain open.
- Now – Dec.14, 2012: Villa Buildings will undergo Exterior Refurbishment. One villa building will be cleaned and painted at a time; during the hours of Monday – Friday 9am-5pm.
- Now – To Be Determined. : The High Rock Spring Pool Slide is closed for refurbishment. During this time, the High Rock Spring Pool as well as The Paddock Pool and Slide will remain open.
Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club
- Now – Nov. 16, 2012: Ship Shape Health Club and Periwig Beauty & Barber Shop will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, a temporary health club will be located in the Solarium at the Beach Club. This location will be available 24hrs. Guests may also use the Boardwalk health club.
- Now – December 18, 2012: Hurricane Hanna’s will be closed for refurbishment. During this time, there will be a temporary hot dog/drink car near Stormalong Bay and Lafferty’s Arcade will have a temporary grab & go area. Adult beverages and poolside cocktail service are available out of Poolside Gifts.
- Now – June 28, 2013: Rooftop HVAC hot water piping replacement will occur.
- Nov.15 -21, 2012: Yacht Club lobby rug will undergo replacement.
